| 2002 was the coolest summer ever recorded at Oxford Landing Vineyard. These cooler conditions enabled the fruit for the 2002 Oxford Landing Merlot to develop slowly and consistently, resulting in deep colours and rich, ripe fruit flavours. Merlot at Oxford Landing has been strategically planted on low vigour and well drained sites. Decreasing berry size through regulated deficit irrigation and reducing crop levels by detail pruning are important for the production of quality fruit, which is essential for Oxford Landing wines. Oxford Landing FactWe individualise our Merlot blocks as determined by the root stocks to maximise their flavour variation and complexity. Different root stocks will reach flavour heights at different times over three or more weeks during ripening. This diversity adds to the complexity and depth in the final wine. |
